Grave Goods offers A Unique Look at New England's Past
While grave goods are defined as objects buried with the
dead for use in the afterlife, objects from those who have passed surround us - yet the everyday lives of the
people from times gone by are little understood and often remain a mystery to people in today's world.
Grave Goods investigates the
lives and times of those who have gone before us through a series of historic
events with photographic images of what remains and forgotten moments
expressed by those who lived then. A contemporary historical narrative
accompanies
the merchandise from each series to interpret
the Passed for the Present.
SERIES I
The Puritans investigates the Death Head motif common to Colonial
burying grounds. The image is accompanied by an inspirational Mortuary Moment as expressed by a minister from
that period.
