About Grave Goods

The Past

Grave Goods is a concept that was developed many years ago by three archaeologists who wanted to help people understand and appreciate the relationship between objects and people from the past. A lofty goal!!!!! Being from Boston we all thought that the Puritan gravestones would be first on our hit list. We took alot of photos of gravestones and developed the "Mortuary Moment,"  quotes from Puritan ministers who were trying to put the fear of God in their flock.  Unfortunately, follow through was not our strong point.

The Present

Grave Goods has been resurrected by Barbara Donohue, an Historic Archaeologist from Boston. Barbara travels around New England in her MINI working on a variety of archaeological  and historic preservation projects. Most recently her focus has been developing Preservation Management Plans for Colonial Burying Grounds.
